I am Cindy Wechsler, an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) and Holistic Health Counselor, I work with all ages across the lifespan to help maintain one’s health. My philosophy regarding patient care is a full body approach to treating each patient as that is the key factor to fostering proper growth, development, and wellbeing. As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, I work with parents and their children on illness prevention as well as maintaining an optimal level of health. My focus is a blend of natural medicine in conjunction with traditional medicines by incorporating proper nutrition, herbal medicines, and physical fitness with the judicious use of western medicine. Many of the ailments that children are plagued with can be avoided and/or reversed with proper diet and exercise. Providing a strong foundation of good habits when it comes to nutrition and exercise will help with issues such as obesity, constipation, hyperactivity, allergies, stomach problems, lowered immune system just to name a few. As a Holistic Health Counselor, I work with parents on maintaining health thru nutrition, balance and emotional support as they journey thru this new transition of parenting.
My journey began about 15 years ago when I realized I was not functioning at my optimal level as my children approached school age. I was not feeling as energetic and vivacious as I should. The demands of being a mom, wife and a professional in the work force left me feeling depleted. I started a fitness routine and immediately noticed changes taking place not only physically but mentally. I then started making changes with my eating habits. Thus, the changes were even more pronounced. I decided to take the fitness to the next level so I made the decision to train for a body building competition. As I was approaching middle age, I wanted to fight the odds of letting age take its toll on my body. I felt empowered by knowing that I had control over my
wellbeing. I understood that how I treated my body was key to my energy, moods and longevity. The foods that I ate fueled me and helped alleviate some of the issues I was facing with allergies, bowels, stomach, fatigue and my immune system. Mostly, my new lifestyle provided me with bounds of energy. I incorporated some of my new habits into my child rearing and noticed positive changes with my children as well. I have since competed in several body building competitions winning 1st place as Ms. Athletic in 2013 earning my professional card as an athlete in DFAC federation (Drug Free Athletes Coalition).
As a mother of two extraordinary children, a 23 year old son and a 21 year old daughter, I have joyously watched my children grow and develop into healthy, well-adjusted, self-confident, self-sufficient young adults. The journey of motherhood, though challenging at times, has been quite rewarding. As your child’s healthcare provider, I will guide you through each transition period to help you experience all the wonders motherhood has to offer.
My background is quite diverse, as I have been a nurse consultant at several daycares and preschool centers for 20 years, worked as a weight loss counselor, camp nurse plus owner of DNA Body Sculpting where I counsel clients on nutrition and fitness, When not at the gym training, you will find me reading motivational books and other magazines/journals on nutrition and fitness, cooking while experimenting in the kitchen revamping recipes, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors or playing a good game of Scrabble. I look forward to managing both your and your child’s health care needs. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
