A Gentle Medical Treatment in Use for Thousands of Years

Have you been feeling less than your best with a list of vague symptoms and fatigue? Or do you have joint pain, headaches, or a specific health condition that has become chronic?

If you’re ready to try a gentle form of healing that has been used for thousands of years, acupuncture is an excellent way to achieve healing through stimulating the flow of energy through the body. The body’s life force, or qi (pronounced “chee”), can be awakened through the insertion of very fine needles that stimulate specific energy points throughout the body.

The result can be relief from long-term pain, or help with a number of other conditions.

You May Benefit from Acupuncture if You Have:

  • Musculoskeletal or joint pain
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sciatica
  • Sports Injury
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Other Illnesses
  • Overall Wellness Concerns

What Happens in an Acupuncture Session?

Your practitioner will first greet you and discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing. After discussion of what she or he feels may be most helpful to you, you will lie down in a quiet room with a gown to wear or be covered with a light sheet. Single use, sterile needles are placed in the skin. At the most you may feel a light pricking sensation; often, patients feel nothing at all.  If you prefer no needles, our providers also have different techniques to stimulate the points.   Cupping or ear seeds may also be utilized.

A session usually takes fifteen to thirty minutes, with five to twenty needles used. Depending on your issue, the treatment could last up to sixty minutes.

After a treatment, patients report feeling very calm, and in some cases tired. Some people, however, say they are more energized.  Resting after a treatment is advised, as acupuncture clears toxins from our bodies and lowers our stress hormones. This is an optimal time to take advantage of your relaxed state. You may be more aware of your bodily sensations as acupuncture stimulates nerves, muscles and connective tissue while boosting the body’s natural painkillers.
