We are pleased to offer Holistic Pelvic CareTM to patients. Holistic Pelvic Care TM (HPC) is a technique consisting of physical and energetic tools designed to evaluate and restore emotional, physical and energetic balance in the pelvic space of the female body. HPC was designed by Tami Kent, MS, a women’s health physical therapist in Portland, Oregon and author of the groundbreaking book Wild Feminine: Finding Power, Spirit, & Joy in the Root of the Female Body.

Holistic Pelvic CareTM helps restore the natural and healthy pelvic floor functions which can be adversely affect by a number of factors including, for example, age, body weight, multiple births, surgery and radiation in the pelvic area, and low physical activity. Additionally, HPC empowers a woman to inhabit her pelvic space and occupy her feminine ground physically, energetically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Holistic Pelvic Care would benefit any woman seeking a deeper connection to her core vitality or anyone with symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction.

All new patient visits are 1 hour. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. The number of treatments will vary depending on the patient’s response to the first session and the extent of a woman’s symptoms and how long she has been having them, however on average patients will be seen for 3 sessions.

During the initial session a brief health history is taken and basic pelvic anatomy is introduced. The pelvic evaluation will then include external palpation, internal palpation, and pelvic mapping, making note of internal pelvic trigger points and tension patterns. The assessment is followed by treatment to balance the pelvis through such techniques as intervaginal massage with myofascial release and trigger point work as well as breathwork and visualization tools to assist core physical and energetic balance. Follow-up sessions begin with a brief re-assessment and then focus primarily on treatment. We conclude each session with a discussion surrounding self-care and answering any questions.

Many women feel a renewed sense of connection and awareness in their root, often describing this as calm, centered and grounded. Energy and blood flow are increased to the pelvic bowl and many women report a decrease in overall symptoms and a strengthening of pelvic floor muscle engagement. Most women do a series of three HPC sessions while practicing and gaining confidence in their self-care techniques. The techniques of HPC are extremely gentle, yet the effects are profound.
