It is highly recommended that all patients include copies of their lab work with their initial paperwork whenever possible. If additional testing is required, we have insurance billing options including Connecticut Medicaid/Husky and direct pay options for uninsured patients. Blood work can be requisitioned through Quest, LabCorp, Yale, Stamford Hospital, and other laboratories we are affiliated with. Unfortunately, our doctors are not medicare ordering providers at this time.
Common testing may include:
- Complete Blood Count
- Metabolic Panel
- Cholesterol Panel
- Thyroid Panel
- Iron Panel
- Liver Enzymes
- Inflammatory Markers
- Hormones
- Pap
Specialized testing may include:
- Comprehensive Digestive Analysis
- Food Allergy Testing
- Environmental Allergy Testing
- Comprehensive Micronutrient Testing
- Lipoprotein Particle Testing
- Female and male hormone testing
- Adrenal Function testing
- Hair Mineral Analysis
- Urine Analysis
How much will labs cost?
For most of our specialty labs (Doctors Data, Diagnostic Solutions, IgeneX, KBMO, Microgen Dx, Boston Heart Diagnostics, Precision Analytical, OralDNA, Labs, US Biotek, etc.), we can tell you exactly how much the labs will cost. Some will bill your insurance and have a small copay. Others accept HSA. In most instances you to pay the lab directly.
For conventional tests (these are tests that go through Quest, LabCorp, Yale, Stamford Health, Greenwich, etc.), health insurance may pay for your tests. This is the case for most routine testing that we do. We don’t like surprises any more than you do! We’ll always try to let you know when labs might not be considered medically necessary, although we can’t always predict this since it’s your insurance company that makes the decision.
What if I don’t have insurance?
If you don’t have health insurance, the best option is usually to go with physician pricing through our account with Acu Reference, to use Quest direct billing, or to order labs through our account with direct labs.
Can the doctors order tests before my visit?
No. You must be an existing patient to obtain a lab order. If you would like to order your own testing, it can be done through our account with direct labs. Support with lab ordering is limited to existing patients during their appointment.
Where will my blood be drawn?
We have the ability to collect most tests in office. In the even your provider needs more comprehensive testing, or an early morning draw, we will refer you out to a phlebotomy site or we can arrange to have a mobile phlebotomist come to you. We really do try to make the process easy.
