Reiki is an ancient Japanese art which strengthens the self-healing powers of the body.  A kind of bridge that allows the transference of energy from practitioner to the client, Reiki means “universal life energy” in Japanese. Reiki calms the nerves, releases physical tension and mental blockages, and promotes healing from within.

You may benefit from Reiki Healing if you are:

  • Immersed in emotional trauma, or family or relationship issues that create strong negative feelings
  • Living with depression or anxiety
  • Dealing with chronic pain, such as migraine headaches, back aches, or ongoing gastrointestinal distress
  • Suffering from grief or loss
  • Experiencing caregiver exhaustion or burnout
  • Have a sense of being held back from moving to the next stage of life

What is included in a Reiki Healing Session?

A 90-minute session with Beverly includes:

  • A gentle discussion of your needs, desires, and issues in a nurturing environment
  • A 60-minute energetic Reiki session while you rest quietly on a massage table. Reiki engages energy fields from the body’s seven chakras, senses areas of heat and cold, and identifies energy blockages. While it is not a physical massage, you may feel a deep sense of relaxation.
  • Unlike massage therapy, the client remains clothed. We recommend loose, comfortable clothing.
  • A session can either be hands-on, where the practitioner will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off where they will hold their hands slightly above your body.
  • Reiki is performed in a what is defined by the practitioner as a “sacred space,” meaning a place of peace and healing as created through intention and manifestation of pure white light. Sacred space is not used in a traditional religious sense, although many times clients will experience imagery or feelings tied to their own religious beliefs.
  • Following the session, Beverly will share her intuitive assessment of the universal energy movement she felt through her hands and in your body.
  • It is recommended to remain somewhat quiet, if possible, for the remainder of the day, drink plenty of fresh water to assist in the cleansing of the body, and to be aware of any feelings such as warmth, tingling, vibrant energy or emotional catharsis.

What may be included:

  • There may be a strong emotional feeling of release, even tears if there is a deep sorrow or concern within you
  • Gentle, non-invasive touch with the practitioner’s palms
  • Herbs, botanical oils, scents, and sounds may be used to deepen the experience
  • Mindful relaxation like yoga or meditation

You can experience Reiki healing if:

  • You explore this energy work as a complement to medical treatment
  • You are open to a subtle but powerful experience
  • You are willing to undergo more than one Reiki session to achieve your desired healing
  • You let yourself relax and enjoy the experience of deepening your own wellness

Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation and can assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Like acupuncture or acupressure, Reiki can help to restore energy flow and good health.
